Other great options, which I’ve reviewed in the past, are the Nock Co. Two current favorites, shown here in photos, are the Superior Labor Leather Pen Roll and the Lochby Tool Roll, which I just added to the T.G.S. That said, for situations where I want to carry a larger number of pens with me in a smaller bag, such as a pen show or a local pen club meetup, I’m going with a pen roll (or “rolls,” plural) more often than not. There’s no categorical recommendation here - I regularly carry both traditional pen cases and pen rolls, depending on where I’m going and what I’m doing. “Brasstown” drew on elements of both the pen roll and the pen case, allowing you to tuck a six-pen roll into a compact outer zippered case.) Likewise, if you’re going to be transporting pens inside checked luggage or another situation where they might be crushed, a pen roll might not be the best choice over a case with more structure. (As an aside, items like the now-discontinued Nock Co. If you carry expensive pens, be sure to evaluate the security of a pen roll before you invest. Some designs that don’t have a flap across the top leave your pens at risk of falling out. While some pen rolls come with straps and secure closures, others need to be tied or rely on elastics, which are arguably less secure in the sense that it’s easier for them to fall open inadvertently. Disadvantages of a Pen Roll (or Why You Might Prefer a Pen Case) Many pen rolls also fit a wide range of pen sizes (in terms of both length and diameter), and if you’re not squeamish about your pens touching, you can often double the stated capacity of the pen roll by sticking multiple pens in a single slot, especially with more slender writing instruments like ballpoints and gel pens. While most pen cases are sized for pens, pen rolls can be repurposed to carry other things, whether it’s other writing instruments such as mechanical pencils, ruling pens, or Pilot Parallels (shown above on the right), or even things like pen repair equipment, crafting knives, wrenches, and/or bike tools. ![]() Now that's a lot of bad points if you want a better experience pen the parker jotter is better made, but theres is not a lot of pens in that minimalistic look.Versatility. The finish scratch easily and ithink the pen woulk look better with 1 cm overall shorter. The mecanism is ok but i dont like the fact that there is a little spring that is separated from the pen. The finish looks great in picture but in reality it's too smooth and will show fingerprint also it is really slippy. The clip design doesnt seem refined enough, i dont like the fact that the paint is not the same as the pen, maybe make it black brushed aluminium or orange like the clicker, and the shape really rectangle to fit the overall. The cartridge is smooth although i would have prefered a 0.5mm ![]() The diameter is perfect its similar to a regular pencil. The clicker looks really good with the little bevel edgge and the the metallic orange and the etched owl logo I like the fact that it is a simple pen without ornament and a monolithic kinda bauhaus design I still use the pen daily, I just wish it kept it's sleek look longer. If that doesn't matter, then you'll be ok. The weight of the pen is mostly back heavy, and the smoothness of course depends on your Parker G2 refill quality. You better hope that it doesn't hit something hard or else you'll see the first scratch on the coating. The early days with the pen are very slippery and you will drop the pen. ![]() The coating feels like one of those black Mirado or TIcondoroga pencils and gives the pen some grip after the first week or so. The writing experience is pretty good though. Although, I can admit that these are harsh conditions for a pen, this pen is advertised as if the coating is very durable. Along the barrel of the pen, there are spots where the coating was rubbed off by either my pants, my other pen, or my keys. I have kept this pen in pocket nearly every day since I've owned it, and next to another metal pen with no coating on it's metal body. I purchased this pen in April 2021, and now in September 2021, the coating is starting to look bad. The main issue with this pen is that the coating does not hold up over time. I thought this would be a great way to help make it obvious that this was my red ink pen because of the metallic orange cap.Īnd for that purpose it works, and works well. I bought this pen so that I could use it to help differentiate between my typical writing pen, and my editing pen (red ink). ![]()
